Alert System
Dear Grosse Ile Resident,
The Grosse Ile Fire Department Community Education Program is pleased
to introduce a new safety system to our community. It's called the Community
Alert System, a state-of-the-art siren system to be operational in the
Township by Winter 2001. The Community Alert System is a key component
of the Safe and Sound Program sponsored by the Grosse Ile Fire
Department. It enhances existing safety equipment and emergency procedures.

Audio tests of the system are to be conducted on the first Saturday each
month at noon. Along with the new outdoor warning system, the Grosse Ile
Fire Department has added a private radio station that will assist us
in getting emergency messages to the community: G.I. 1700 AM
Please take a few moments to review this information and discuss it with
family members and friends. In the coming weeks and months, we will be
