The membership of the committee is a multi-faceted group composed of representatives of the Township Board, Grosse Ile Nature and Land Conservancy, Natural Resource Committee, Beautification Committee, Planning Commission and residents at large. Additional resident members are welcomed and encouraged to participate. The committee meets approximately monthly at a time conducive to the members schedules.
The Greenway Committee has continued to provide recommendations to the Township Board regarding land acquisition utilizing the previously approved acquisition criteria. With the passage of the Open Space Maintenance Millage, the committee has begun the process of compiling a Greenway Management Plan and selected Metropolitan Forestry to complete an Open Space Inventory. This report was presented to the Township Board in November. The report consists of individual property evaluations along with recommended actions to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the Township Open Space. The committee has just begun the process of reviewing the reports and will be making recommendations to the Township Board in the upcoming year.
