Planning Commission

1999-2000 Annual Report

The Planning Commission experienced a heavier workload in 1999 compared to the previous year. In addition to various study session items, the Planning Commission has reviewed five site plans, five lot splits, eleven ordinance amendments, ten pre-application reviews, two re-zonings, one special land use review, and one recommendation to the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Number of Meetings:

The Planning Commission held twelve (12) regular meetings during the year.

Zoning Ordinance Update:

The “Ad Hoc” Zoning Ordinance Subcommittee continued work on revising the Zoning Ordinance. This committee consists of Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeal, Township Board, staff and citizen representatives. The update has been on an Article by Article basis per the priorities established by the Planning Commission.The Zoning Ordinance Subcommittee only held three meetings during the year, however, staff diligently worked with the consultant and the committee performed individual reviews of the drafts submitted. The Planning Commission reviewed the following articles:

Article 7 – Macomb Street District
Article 9 – Airport District
Article 10 – Open Space
Article 17 – Waterfront Provisions
Article 19 – General Provisions
Article 20 – Miscellaneous Provisions
Article 22 – Special Land Use
Article 23 – Variance and Amendments
Article 24 – Administrative Organization

Master Plan:

Additional work continued on the Township Build-out Analysis to assess impacts of future population. This document is considered to be in draft form and is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2000.

New Members:

During 1999, the Planning Commission welcomed Anne Javoroski as a new member.
