Drainage Task Force

2000-2001 Annual Report

The Drainage Task Force continues to monitor drainage complaints, however, due to low water levels this past year there was little activity. In 2000, the priority drainage projects on the west end of Lake and Rucker Roads and the retension pond at the Airport along with other minor problems have been completed. Ditching on Lake Road to improve drainage was completed by Wayne County Roads.

There are other priority drainage problems under consideration. The Township Engineer is working with us to evaluate, recommend solutions, and estimate costs. The overall drainage management project is the Topographic Mapping of the Island with development showing drainage patterns and computerizing this information. It is an important part of the project and since Wayne County is also working in comparable areas, the Township Engineer is cooperating with the County to avoid duplication of efforts and expense.
