Supervisor's Weekly E-Letter

June 10, 2004

Bridge Closures: The County Bridge will continue to be scheduled for closures on some Tuesdays from 9am to 4pm throughout the summer. The county reports to us that they are working on the deck and other structures that are in need of maintenance. Please plan accordingly, and watch the signs on both sides of the bridge for updates on the exact closure schedule. Typically rain or bad weather will result in the delay of any scheduled closures. The county will attempt to stick with the Tuesday schedule, and avoid rush hours and weekends. Next Tuesday, June 15th, is on the schedule for a closure.

Message From the Toll Bridge

The following notice was received this week by the township from the Bridge Company:

June 7, 2004: Please be advised, commencing June 9, 2004 construction projects will be commencing. These will include construction of a four lane plaza on the mainland, paving approach roads, painting, pier repairs, and replacement of 3 bridge decks. There may be temporary lane closures, delays are likely. There will be total closure during deck replacement. A schedule will be provided when available.
We have requested that the county and bridge company coordinate schedules to avoid bridge work at both places at one time.

Quotes of the Week: President Ronald Reagan

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

The ultimate determinant in the struggle now going on for the world will not be bombs and rockets but a test of wills and ideas-a trial of spiritual resolve: the values we hold, the beliefs we cherish and the ideals to which we are dedicated.

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'
