Supervisor's Weekly E-Letter

Next Meeting of the Township Board: Monday, Nov. 8th. This is expected to be the final meeting of the 2000-2004 Grosse Ile Township Board. The new Township Board takes office on Nov. 20th at noon, and is expected to hold its first meeting on Monday, Nov. 22nd.

Bridge Meeting

The township will host a public forum on bridge and community access issues the evening of Dec. 6th. Township Supervisor-Elect Kurt Kobiljak will host the meeting at Township Hall, and representatives from the county, state and federal government will be on hand to talk about the bridges and community access issues. You are invited to bring your questions and comments to this important and informative session on the biggest challenge facing our community.

This Week in Island History

Oct. 27, 1914 – Grosse Ile became a township when the Wayne County Board of Supervisors agreed to its separation from Monguagon Township. The first supervisor was Leonard H. Wilton.
Nov. 1, 1813 – Monique Navarre Macomb (Mrs. William) died of pneumonia, the result of exposure during flight from Grosse Ile to Detroit after the Macomb home was torched by marauding Indians.
