The next meeting of the Local Advisory Council is Wednesday, October 26 at the Dearborn Holiday Inn located at 5801 Southfield Service Drive at 7:00 p.m. Attached are two documents relating to the decision to remove the Downriver and Belle Isle areas from consideration and the areas still being looked at: DRCI Alternatives Draft and 100405AnnouncementMap1. Wayne County Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge UpdateOn Monday, October 10, 2005, the Board of Trustees passed a resolution asking elected officials and boards in Michigan to support the application to the Local Critical Bridge Program asking for funds for the repair and remediation of the Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge. A discussion leading to final selections will be made at their meeting scheduled for November 3, 2005. I have been invited to attend this meeting to speak on behalf of the township to plead our case to get funding for the remediation of the bridge. My talk will be on the necessity of repairing the bridge, its current inferior condition and the fact it is only one of two links to the mainland for island residents. Listed below are the persons and boards to whom letters and emails should be directed to help with this effort. As all residents know only too well, the repairs on the Wayne County Bridge need to begin as soon as possible.
