THE SUPERVISOR’S E UPDATE NOVEMBER 23, 2005Kurt M. Kobiljak, Township SupervisorHAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILYGrosse Ile MillagesThank you voters! The three millages on the November 8, 2005 special election passed. The turnout for this election was terrific compared to some of the smaller item elections the township has had in the past. The three millages are as follows:
Wayne County Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge UpdateAfter my visit with the Local Bridge Advisory Board Wayne County was informed by the Local Bridge Board that they had approved funding in the amount of $3.5 million for the Wayne County Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge. Though the amount is less than the $4.4 million necessary, Wayne County will work with these funds so that, at a minimum, the decking will be replaced. The County has already started working on schematic plans for the engineering of the remediation of the bridge. Bidding could commence during the summer months. Even though the funding and final procedures of this project may not transpire till early 2007, I will be pushing the County to get this project completed in 2006 for I am concerned about the continued deterioration of the bridge through this winter months. Water’s Edge 2006 UpdateYou recently may have seen information on GITV cable or in your mailbox via an orange flier regarding the great new programs that the Community Recreation Department is introducing at Water’s Edge.
