Wayne County Bridge Reopening Update
The Township attended the Wayne County Bridge Construction Progress
meeting this afternoon to determine the present status of the reopening
of the Free Bridge. In light of the ice/sleet which hit the bridge at the
beginning of the week the reopening for the Bridge has been pushed back.
Per my discussions with Wayne County Officials
the Bridge will officially reopen
Friday December 21,2007.
The push back takes into consideration weather
conditions which our area may be confronted with
during the next week.
The Township will use all available methods to notify
residents of the new reopening date for the bridge. The county
in turn will be updating Road signage, issuing press releases
and will be contacting island residents via their phones through
the use of their emergency notification system
commonly referred to as "reverse 911."
I will provide an updated report and revised pictures of the
bridge tomorrow afternoon with my next
