THE SUPERVISOR’S E UPDATE February 9, 2007
Kurt M. Kobiljak, Grosse Ile Township Supervisor
Free Bridge Closure Update
We are presently trying to ascertain whether the County has put the bridge remediation project out to bid. The County had previously informed us that if the project would be put out for bid in February then there would be an April construction commencement date and, in the alternative, if the project would go out for bid in March then there would be a May Construction date. To date I have no confirmation that the project was put out for bid. I will be able to provide the Board and residents a more exact update at our upcoming Board meeting this Monday at 7:30 pm.
Mondays February 12th Township Board Updated Agenda
At our upcoming meeting on Monday the Township Board will be testing a new agenda to better serve residents and promptly address the business items which come before the Board. As a result Township residents will see an agenda that pushes the “Action Items” to the top of the agenda for Board Action. Recently it has taken a great deal of time to get to the Business Section of the agenda. Not only does this affect those that are coming before the Board to address or discuss their business item, but those watching the meetings have indicated difficulty in gauging when the action items of the agenda will actually be addressed by the Board. The Agenda will still provide a consent agenda, public comment, discussion items, and officer/township manager reports.
The Island Coney is Very, Very Close to Opening
One of the more frequently asked questions is” When is that Coney restaurant Opening. I had the opportunity of speaking with the owner of this new Macomb restaurant today who told me that he believes his doors will finally be opening around February 22nd. He indicated that the Island Coney will be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 6am to 8pm and he claimed that his oatmeal would always be piping hot!
Questions, Comments or Observations for the Supervisor – Supervisor Office Hours
Is there ever a time on the Island where you hear a story on the island (like the recent false story I heard yesterday that I wanted to buy a $30,000 snow machine for the sled hill) and you ask yourself the question “ I wonder if that is true?” Take the time to set up an appointment with me to discuss those issues, questions or observations that are important to you – its a simple and quick process of getting factual information on those items affecting the Island. My open office hours at the Township are Wednesdays and Fridays from 1pm – 5pm. To set up an appointment please call Carol Knopp at 676-4422 Ext 210.
