The Wayne County Free Bridge Closure

Bridge Closure Will Commence
Wednesday,
May 2, 2007 at 9:00 a.m.

A reminder to all residents that the Wayne County Bridge will close tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.

All traffic signs announcing the closure have been put in place.  New traffic control signals and lights are now operational.  Please drive safety as you approach the intersections of Bridge and Meridian Roads on Grosse Ile and Bridge and Jefferson in Riverview and observe the new operational traffic signals. 

Residents with issues and concerns during the free bridge closure are asked to contact Tony Gray at Township Hall.  He can be reached at 734.676.4422, ext. 240.  Mr. Gray will coordinate with the Grosse Ile Bridge Company to insure that all operations will run in the smoothest manner possible during the closure.

Next week you will additionally see our Fire Department training with the Riverview Fire Department at the Toll Plaza / Riverview Boat Launch site.  In an effort to better protect the life safety of all users of the toll bridge, both department chiefs believe a training session in “real time” (once the free bridge went down for construction) would allow them to see first hand how to handle road traffic, congestion, water flow issues and set up parameters governing the site.  The cooperation between both municipalities will most assuredly provide even greater safety at the site.
