After a chilly day at Water’s Edge, come to the Knights of Columbus 4th Annual Charity Chili Contest – Saturday, February 2nd at 6:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Macomb Street. Tickets are $15 with kids 5 and under free! Warm up by trying the many chilis’ that will be entered in the Chili Contest along with hot dogs and French fries. Community Recreation Happenings
The Seniors Valentine Celebration “Love is in the Air” takes place on Wednesday, February 6 at 12:30 p.m. at Centennial Farm. Advanced ticket sales only! Cost is $10 per person for a wonderful dinner and live musical entertainment. Treat your sweetie, get your tickets today!
The wintertime favorite, “Mother – Son Bowling”, will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Woodhaven Lanes. For a fee of $18 per couple ($8 for each additional child) you will receive bowling time, shoe rental, hot dog and pop. Please register at the Recreation Department by Friday, February 15. Stefan is ready to once again display his talent in the lanes! Raise Your Hands for Education Join the Grosse Ile Educational Foundation for their winter fundraiser "Raise Your Hands for Education!", an evening of tropical music,entertainment and dinner with live and silent auctions! The event will be at the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club on Saturday, February 16 starting at 7:00 p.m. Cost is $65 per person. Proceeds will benefit activities of the Grosse Ile Educational Foundation. For more information and tickets, call Victoria Murphy. DCC Weatherization As Chairman of the Downriver Community Conference, I am pleased to announce the Downriver Community Conference Weatherization, an energy assistance grant from the Department of Labor and Economic Growth. The grant is to provide assistance for low-income residential customers in paying household energy bills up to $800 based on the amount owed. Payments will be made directly to the utility company.
