The 2012 IslandFest on the scenic island of Grosse Ile is the beginning of outdoor festival time in southeastern Michigan. This year’s festival will mark the 27th time that residents have come together to offer this quality family friendly event showcasing the community’s civic pride for all to share in during a very special three day period. As festivalgoers travel to the event, the ever-present picturesque shoreline is there to remind them of what a vital resource and scenic gem Grosse Ile is to southeastern Michigan.
The main venue for IslandFest is the historic Grosse Ile Airport. This lively location features traditional and non-traditional activities for all ages. The public will experience a full range of exciting activities. Indoor activities feature the IslandFest “Art and Craft Mart”, non-profit vendor groups, a large dining area featuring the Knights of Columbus Steak Roast and Pancake Breakfast. As festivalgoers head outside, they will enter the main entertainment area featuring headline performers, the VFW Beverage Tent and a variety of food vendors. This area is also a prime location to enjoy the sites and sounds of the aircraft activities, the carnival and the IslandFest Fireworks Show.

All volunteers receive a t-shirt. Also, an area has been reserved for volunteers to enjoy food and refreshments during their time at the festival.
