FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 16, 2020
GROSSE ILE PARKWAY BRIDGE OVER TRENTON CHANNEL TO UNDERGO LONG-TERM CLOSURE TO MARINE TRAFFIC
WAYNE COUNTY– The United States Coast Guard has approved a closure of the Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge over Trenton Channel to marine traffic starting September 21st. During the closure, small vessels capable of traversing without a bridge opening will still be allowed to travel under one of the two swing spans at all times. Vessels requiring a bridge opening will not be permitted to travel under the bridge during the closure. One of the two swing spans will have low hanging scaffolding and will be clearly marked. Boaters wishing to pass must do so under the span where there is no active work being performed to ensure the safety of boaters and staff performing bridge improvements. The closure is expected to last through winter 2020.
